FIRST DEAF MINISTRY
God is doing something new here at FBC Deaf Ministry! Our desire is to provide a place where Deaf people Belong so they can understand and Believe in the Truth of Gods Word and they can Become devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
The Holiday Season is fast approaching and it’s a busy time for all of us. Here at First Baptist Church it’s also an exciting time with many opportunities to celebrate and enjoy the season.
Tuesday November 22 – First Family Thanksgiving dinner – $5/ adults and $2/kids in Ellis Hall. We will have a table reserved for the Deaf. Please text your RSVP to Jill DuPre 803-608-4039 (include your name and how many with you). We want to make sure we have enough seats for the Deaf.
Thursday December 1 – Governor’s Carolighting Program 7-8 PM at the State House steps. Christmas songs, a Christmas message from Governor Haley and the lighting of the State Christmas Tree makes this event a family favorite. This event will be interpreted.
Friday December 2 – FBC’s Deaf Christmas Banquet – NEW PRICES $5/adults and $2/kids 7-9 PM in Ellis Hall. Our Guest Speaker this year is Ms. Jennifer Powell from Spartanburg. We will have the children’s program again this year. Come early for some special surprises! Register here and pay at the door.
Friday-Sunday December 9-11 – 29th Columbia Christmas Pageant – FBC sanctuary. The interpreted performance is Saturday December 10 at 2 PM. Doors open at 1pm. For this special event the Deaf section is in the first balcony. Only 25 tickets available for the deaf and their families. Contact Jill DuPre for Tickets 803-608-4039.
Sunday December 18 – Carols, Candlelight and Communion Service – FBC Sanctuary 6 PM. This is a very special Christmas service with the reading of the Christmas Story and songs. This is a great family tradition. Will be interpreted and you can just show up.
9:15 AM Deaf led Bible Study – Come be encouraged and challenged by Gods Word as we discuss the: lesson in ASL. We are studying the book of Matthew.
10:30 AM Worship Service – We provide interpreters for the worship service so that you can be an active part of the First Baptist body of believers. Every week Dr. Estep gives us an encouraging and challenging message from Gods Word. Come join us as we worship the Lord “in Spirit and in Truth.”
6:00-7:00 PM – Deaf Prayer and Share is a time where we get together for encouragement through praying for each other and digging deeper into Gods Word. God wants each of us to understand Him better. The best way to learn more about God is to learn from each other and to see what God wants to say to us directly through His Word. We are studying the Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount.
Worship Wednesdays is a brand new program designed for fun, friendship and learning about what it truly means to Worship God. Children will discover that worship can come in many forms including music, art, drama and more! Parents, we haven’t forgotten about you! If you are Deaf or just want to be a part of our Deaf Ministry, join us for Deaf Prayer and Share on Wednesdays 6:00-7:00 PM in Room Lindsay 215.

Silent Sounds is our unique sign language choir. This is a great opportunity for deaf and hearing to come together as one and worship our Lord through sign language. Our choir performs in the annual Christmas Pageant and various times through out the year.
