Prayer Guide

"Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me,  bless His holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul!
O LORD my God, Thou art very great; Thou art clothed with splendor and majesty. Let the glory of the LORD
endure forever; let the LORD be glad in His works; He looks at the earth, and it trembles; He touches the
mountains, and they smoke. I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I
my being. Let my meditation be pleasing to Him; as for me, I shall be glad in the LORD."
- Psalm 103:1, 104:1,31-34

Use this Prayer Guide to help in a time of spiritual renewal with the Lord your God.

  • Humble yourself before Him
  • Be still and listen
  • Praise His name
  • Pray His Word
  • Believe His promises
  • Trust His Word
  • Thank Him for answering
  • Rejoice!

Pray for a closer walk as you abide in Him.

The following prayer guide is divided into four parts:

  • Adoration and Praise
  • Confession
  • Thanksgiving
  • Supplication

As you begin your prayer time first be still and know that He is God.
Listen as He speaks to your heart through the Holy Spirit.

"Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,
by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great
priest over the house of god, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed
with pure water, Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful."
  - Hebrews 10:19-23

Jesus taught His disciples how to pray in the model prayer (Matthew 6:9-13)
He said,"Pray then in this way: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name (Matthew 6:9).

HALLOW the name of God. He is worthy of our praise.
"The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. (Proverbs 18:10).
"Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you"
(Psalm 9:10)

ADORATION AND PRAISE TO GOD

Praise God for WHO He is and for WHAT He has done.

God's name to focus on as you begin- God (Elohim). He is Creator God.
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1)

Praise Him that He not only created the heavens and the earth, but that He created you.
You are His workmanship (Ephesians 2:10a)
"Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come
before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song. For the LORD is a great God, the great King
above all gods. In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The sea is His,
for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD
our Maker, for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care"
(Psalm 95:1-7)

Humble yourself before the LORD your Maker. He is God.
"Praise the LORD. Praise, O servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD. Let the name of the LORD
be praised, both now and forevermore. From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the LORD
is to be praised"
(Psalm 113:1-3)

"Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever" (Psalm 106:1)

As you end your time of praise, now ask God to show you anything that would keep you from
the coming and asking. This is a time of confession.

CONFESSION
Pour out your confessions that He may then fill you with His Spirit.
"Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my
sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are
proved right when you speak and justified when you judge. Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me,
and I will be whiter than snow. Create in my a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. O Lord,
open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise, You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not
take pleasure in burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise" (
portions of Psalm 51)

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive
way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting
(Psalm 139:23-24)

Thank Him that if you confess your sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive you of your sins
and purify you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

Pray that God will fill you to overflow with His Spirit as you enter into a time of Thanksgiving.

THANKSGIVING
Come now to give thanks to the Lord.
Rejoice in the gift of today. Thank Him for your breath today.

"This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 188:24).

"Enter His gates with Thanksgiving and His courts with praise, give thanks to Him and praise His name.
For the LORD is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations"
(Philippians 4:6).

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your
requests to God"
(Philippians 4:6)

Thank Him for what He is doing in your life today. Thank Him that He knows the plans for you.
"Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever: (Psalm 106:1)

As you end your time of Thanksgiving to God, you now come before Him to ask. God has told
us we have not because we ask not or we ask and do not receive because we ask with the wrong motives (James 4:2b-3)

God has said in His Word, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything
according to his will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us-whatever we ask- we know that we
have what we asked of Him"
(1 John 5:14-15).

SUPPLICATION
Now ASK. BELIEVE as you ask in faith. TRUST He will hear and answer.
"O LORD, I call to you; come quickly to me. Hear my voice when I call to you. May my prayer be set before you like
incense, may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD,
keep watch over the door of my lips"
(Psalm 141:1-3)

God has said in His Word, "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know" (Jeremiah 33:3)

Pray that He will show you great and unsearchable things.

End this time of prayer praising God.
"Give thanks to the LORD, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done. Sing to Him,
sing praises to Him; tell of all His wonderful acts. Glory to His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek
the LORD rejoice. Look to the LORD and His strength; seek His face always"
(Psalm 105:1-4)

"I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise Your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise You and extol Your
name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom"
(Psalm 145:1-2).

"Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD" (Psalm 150:6)

"May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer" (Psalm 19:14).
