FBC 1:27 Lunch

At First Baptist, our FBC 1:27 Orphan Care Ministry is focused on helping and equipping our church to care for the most vulnerable children in our community. Several families in our church have already stepped up to foster, but there’s still a need for more who are willing to open their homes and show the love of Christ to children who need a safe place to belong.

The name FBC 1:27 comes from James 1:27, which says, “Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.” That verse is the heartbeat of everything we do in this ministry —it’s our reminder that caring for children in need is not just a calling for a few, but a mission for the whole church.

Not everyone is called to foster—but everyone can do something to help. If fostering isn’t your calling, you can still make a difference by supporting families who are. By joining a Community Care Team, you can serve foster families in practical ways—providing meals, babysitting, offering respite care, or simply being there to listen and pray. Even small acts of support can bring real encouragement to families and make the difference in their foster care journey.

If any of this resonates with you—if you sense the Lord stirring your heart to take a next step—join us for the FBC 1:27 Lunch right after the service next Sunday, November 9th. You’ll hear firsthand stories from families who are currently fostering and discover how you can get involved. Register for the lunch at fbccola.com/events.
