Children’s Ministry FAQ
Where is the nursery located?
Our nursery is located within the Children’s Center. Please enter at the Marion Street entrance under the big blue awning or at the wheelchair ramp on Hampton Street. There is a welcome desk at the bottom of the stairs.
What is the security policy?
Parents of babies through kindergarteners must sign in your child using our automated check-in system or by filling out a security label. Parents should affix the name tag to your child’s back prior to drop-off. You must present your receipt to pick up your child. If the pick-up receipt is lost, you may obtain a replacement at the welcome desk. A member of the preschool committee will explain our complete check-in process to you.
How will you contact me if my child needs me?
Pagers are available to parents so that we may contact you if your children become inconsolable or sick.
Will my child have the same teacher each week?
During Sunday School (9:00—10:15), preschoolers will have the same teachers. During worship (10:30-11:30), volunteers care for our preschoolers each week. These volunteers are on a rotating schedule and serve approximately once every other month.
Is there a private area for nursing mothers?
Yes. Behind the welcome desk, you will find a quiet room designed specifically for nursing mothers. Rocking chairs and a changing table are there for your use. If you have any other needs, feel free to ask any member of theFirstKids team for assistance.
Do you provide assistance for preschoolers with special needs?
Yes. Within our Special Needs Ministry, we partner with parents to meet the needs of each child. Our Special Needs Ministry’s purpose is to welcome children and families with special needs so all might come to know Christ and participate in fellowship, worship, and service. Please contact the Children’s Ministry office at 343-8579 for more information.
Do you provide snacks?
Preschoolers (ages 2 – kindergarten) will receive a snack of Saltine crackers and water on Sunday mornings. Teachers may occasionally provide special snacks, but will post a list of snacks outside the door to alert parents.
What if my child has an allergy?
Please complete and return an Allergy Alert Card. Also, be sure to affix an Allergy Alert Sticker to your child each time they are present at church.
