-Special Needs Ministry-

Happy Hearts

Every Sunday at 9:15 AM we have an adult Special Needs class in our Lindsay building.  We have different teachers who share through music and stories!  Adults ages 18 and over are invited to join us each week! Music led by talented members of our FBC choir.  Special Needs members also practice the Krystal Bells during this time. Our goal is to help those with mental and physical challenges come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

We hope you’ll join us!  Call our office for more information or with questions. 803- 256-4251

Drive-Thru with Love

On Tuesday evening, June 16, Karen Hall led a group of volunteers in running a drive-thru dinner for their members. Many phone calls were made to individuals and group homes across Columbia so that everyone could come out and get something to eat. Karen and her joyful group of volunteers passed out tote bags with hamburgers, candy and Sunday School literature. The caregivers were also given a tote bag in thanks for all they do for the special needs community. Smiles and waves accompanied the scene as drivers and passengers were ministered to. It was a fun and joyful evening; a moment of light in the dark of isolation.
COVID has presented many challenges to ministry, but it hasn’t stopped the gospel from spreading and it will never stop the love of Jesus from reaching the world.

School Supplies for local High School

On Saturday, January 11, a powerful EF2 Tornado caused severe damage to North Central High School in Kershaw County. The wreckage was so severe that the entire school body had to relocate to another facility. Millions of dollars in damage and the loss of countless school supplies and resources created some immediate needs for this school. On Friday, February 14 a few of us gathered the supplies you all donated and took a trip to the new location to give them out to the students.

Red Cards for Red Truck Riders

On Tuesday evening, February 4, we came together in Ellis Hall to celebrate the Valentine’s season with good food, fellowship, and card making. Everyone had a good time and made as many cards as possible since they were going to be given to local first responders. Later that week some of the Happy Hearts leaders took the cards to some local firefighters, who were surprised someone remembered them on Valentine’s Day. Good job Happy Hearts members for all your hard work.
