FIRST takes a total-life approach to bringing families together by offering Christ-centered, fun-filled activities and sports for people of all ages. We offer specialized exercise classes, instruction-for-life classes, and high-energy sports to help you improve your fitness level while also enjoying fellowship with others.

Our sports teams focus on more than winning a game; they focus on a winning attitude. Children and adults alike learn the values of endurance, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship—all while having a great time and making new friends.

FREE Indoor Track! No membership required! The weather outside is unpredictable, but your workout doesn’t have to be! Our climate controlled indoor track is open to the public Monday – Thursday from 7 AM – 8 PM and on Fridays from 7 AM – 3 PM. Call 803.343.8587 or email for more details!

 

FBC Fitness Membership:
If you are a member of First Baptist Church, you can join the Estep Family Life Center (EFLC). For $30/individual/year or $40/family/year you can gain access to the basketball courts, weight room, cardio room, as well as the lockers and showers. To sign up for your membership download and complete the FBC Membership Form and bring check or cash to the 2nd floor activity desk of the EFLC.

AEROBIC CLASSES

 

Evening Pilates

Instructor: Certified PHI® Pilates instructors

Pilates is a body sculpting activity that works your body from the inside out. Develop long lean muscles from this great core exercise class.

Zumba Fitness® at Lunch
Instructor: Licensed Zumba Fitness® Instructor

Start Date: May 2 (8 week session)
Come join the party at lunch! Zumba combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations. The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps.
Class holiday is May 30.

OTHER CLASSES

Lexington Medical Center Heart Health Screening – FULL
Cost: FREE
Day/Times: Mon, 7:30 AM – 10:30 AM
One day only May 23! Registration begins April 15! Pre-registration is required for this on-site heart health screening. Screening includes: lipid profile (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL & triglycerides), glucose, blood pressure, risk assessment for diabetes, coronary and heart disease screening. Upon request LMC offers a complete thyroid panel test and a Vitamin D test; however, these tests require a fee. FASTING IS REQUIRED for 12 hours prior to screening. Drink lots of water prior to screening. Feedback results will be mailed to participants. Call 803.343.8587 beginning April 15, 2016 to reserve your time slot.

 

Noon Hoops
Cost: $5/non-member

Soccer Shots® – Spring League
Cost: $80/8 weeks + $15 registration fee
Day/Times: Tuesday, 5:30 – 6:30 PM
Start Date: March 15 (8 weeks)
Soccer Shots is a national soccer introduction program for children ages 3-8.  We are non-competitive and place our focus on teaching soccer skills and character development in a fun and encouraging atmosphere. Each week we will focus on a new skill and a new character word.  We will scrimmage at the end of each class time to implement the skills of the day. Children will be divided into appropriate age groups. Registration includes: t-shirts, weekly prizes and more. Space is limited and we run on a first come first serve basis so please don’t delay in registering. Need additional info? Ballroom Dancing
Instructor: Jennifer Boatwright, dance instructor
Cost: $50/4 weeks
Days/Times: Mon, 3:00 – 4:00 PM
Start Date: June 6th (4 Weeks)
Registration Deadline: June 1
Each class will be 50 minutes in length and will introduce Foxtrot and East Coast Swing. We will discuss the fundamentals of dance, timing of the dances and basic patterns. Foxtrot is the most popular social dance in the world because of its easy going walking nature. It is also known as the conversation dance. East Coast Swing is a lively energetic dance that gives you a spring in your step and is one of the most fun dances around. Since this dance takes up little room on the floor, more people can join in the fun. Both dances contribute to an aerobic quality of exercise, mental stimulation, balance and stability, as well as a great answer to social needs. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing. It is preferable to wear shoes with a leather sole or something with pivot and slide ability. No rubber soles or shoes that will slide off your feet. Classes will start with basic patterns of each dance and progress each week.
Minimum of 10 participants pre-registered and paid to hold the class.

Manners Camp (Preschool)

Camp Description

Camp is June 20-22. This year we are offering 2 sessions of camp to accommodate more age groups for our manners camp. Come be a part of the Manners Camp! We will be learning about The Golden Rule, R-E-S-P-E-C-T, Speaking Skills, Table Manners and much, much more. The kids will come home reminding YOU to keep your elbows off of the table. And just wait until they learn the Interrupting Rule – I promise you will thank us! We will have a fabulous time singing with Judy the Manners Lady, playing games, making crafts and learning proper table skills. Camp is held in the FBC Children’s Center.

Soccer Shots® Summer Camp

Camp Description

The heat is on, but our soccer camp will be cool – indoors at the EFLC Gym! Camp will consist of instruction in the basics/fundamentals of soccer for beginners as well as advanced passing/shooting/dribbling drills for more experienced players. All this is taught through the SOCCER SHOTS® fun and creative method of teaching. Each day will consist of age appropriate skill development, snack time, age appropriate crafts and scrimmaging.

In this camp we’ll be exploring he awesome world of art through the lens of science. We’ll be standing on the shoulders of innovative artists like Leonardo da Vinci as we explore and experiment our way to something lovely! Baseball Camp

Camp Description

Special guest for camp will be Trey Dyson – the former USC Gamecock and USC baseball commentator for SEC+ network. On Wednesday campers will get a tour of the new Spirit Communications Park! Campers will meet at Howard Park (behind Northside Middle School at 200 Cougar Dr, West Columbia) for camp every day except Wednesday. (Wednesday they will meet at Spirit Communications Park.) Your spring season may be over, but hone your skills for fall ball! Every aspect will be covered from hitting, pitching and fielding. Bring your glove and helmet, but all other equipment is provided. If you have a preferred bat, bring the bat with you.
