FIRST takes a total-life approach to bringing families together by offering Christ-centered, fun-filled activities and sports for people of all ages. We offer specialized exercise classes, instruction-for-life classes, and high-energy sports to help you improve your fitness level while also enjoying fellowship with others.

Our sports teams focus on more than winning a game; they focus on a winning attitude. Children and adults alike learn the values of endurance, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship—all while having a great time and making new friends.

If you are a member of First Baptist Church, you can join the Estep Family Life Center. You can gain access to the basketball courts, weight room, cardio room, as well as the lockers and showers. To sign up for your membership download and complete the FBC Membership Form and bring check or cash to the 2nd floor activity desk of the EFLC.

Class Description

Come join the party at lunch! Zumba combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations. The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps.

Class Description

Do you need help with your makeup application? Don’t know what colors are best for you? Discover new ways to improve your makeup from a top makeup artist. In this 1 ½ hour class, you will get hands on training aimed at teaching you all the tricks and expert techniques for applying your makeup like a pro. Your teacher, Leah J. Greene, is a professional makeup artist with over 18 years of experience. Bring your makeup to the class and let Leah help you decide what is best for you whether it is one of her products from her own line of makeup or the cosmetics you are using.

Leah has worked with actors such as George Clooney and Shannon Elizabeth; politicians such as President George W. Bush, United States Ambassador Nikki Haley and Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann; television celebrities such as Judy Woodruff (anchor and editor of NewsHour on PBS), Dana Perino (co-host The Five, FOX News Channel ) and Ainsley Earhardt (co-host of FOX & Friends); and others such as Toby Keith (country music singer and songwriter), Bethany Hamilton (professional surfer), and many more. Leah has even won an Emmy working on the SCETV produced show Remembering Charleston. Class will be held at the FBC Estep Family Life Center.

SASS Self-Defense Course for Women

Class Description and Registration

One Day class held September 10. This course will be held in the 1420 Student Center located next to the EFLC. Please use entrance to 1420 located in Washington Street parking lot. Step into the course that awakens your mind and prepares your body to prevent and prepare for some of life’s worst case scenarios. In this course we physically focus on grabs, chokes and abduction scenarios as well as what mentally goes with training for all of it. All skill levels welcome. Pre-registration is required HERE. Minimum registration numbers must be met for this FREE class to be held.

Soccer Shots® Class

Cost: $99/10 weeks plus one time $20 school year registration fee

Description and Registration

September 11 starts the 10 week Fall Season. Fee includes our brand new ADIDAS Soccer Shots Jerseys, Mid-Season Player Review, End of season Certificate and End of Season Medal. Soccer Shots is a national soccer introduction program.  We are non-competitive and place our focus on teaching soccer skills and character development in a fun and encouraging atmosphere. Each week we will focus on a new skill and a new character word.  We will scrimmage at the end of each class time to implement the skills of the day. Children will be divided into appropriate age groups. Space is limited and we run on a first come first serve basis so please don’t delay in registering. Managing Your Blood Sugar:  Ways to Prevent or Improve Type 2 Diabetes

Currently, every seventeen seconds in the United States, someone is diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and the diagnosis is rapidly increasing in teenagers and young adults.  The medical literature contends that when a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes is made, the disease has already been impacting the body on an average of ten years.  Fortunately, however, type 2 diabetes can often be prevented, reversed, and/or managed successfully!  In this class we will explore 1) An explanation of the general types of diabetes (type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes- – -and the newest type of diabetes: type 3 diabetes). 2) The “five skills for successful prevention and/or management of diabetes – – -and how easy they can be to follow! 3) The effects of diabetes on all parts of the body and possible long term complications of uncontrolled diabetes on the body. 4) “Success stories” obtained from working with patients who chose to make the choice to prevent or manage their pre-existing diabetes. 2018 Tax Update Lunch & Learn

One day offering held September 18 in Ellis C of the First Baptist dining hall.  Bring your insurance or Medicare card and get your Flu shot early! The following should be vaccinated for the flu: (1)people over the age of 50, (2)people who have certain chronic medical conditions, (3)primary caregiver of someone at high risk for complications from the flu (4)pregnant women (5)healthcare professionals (6)young children aged 6 months to 5 years and (7)childcare workers.
